Most of the Plank & Beam range comes in the same four finishes, which is the easiest way to make a dining room and a living room look like they were bought together. Here is what each one looks like and where it works.
Pecan is a warm medium brown and the most popular choice. It sits comfortably with most kitchens and most flooring, which is why it is the safe pick when you cannot decide.
Walnut is darker and richer, the choice for a mid-century look or a room with lighter floors that wants some contrast.
Blonde is the lightest, close to the natural colour of the pine. It keeps a small room bright and suits Scandinavian-leaning interiors.
Black is a solid painted finish applied the same low-VOC way as the stains, with the wood grain texture still visible through it.
On the Classic and Modern dining pieces and the Grande consoles you will see wirebrush versions. The softer grain is brushed out of the pine before finishing, leaving a textured surface that looks like reclaimed wood. It hides everyday wear well.
Pecan, Walnut, Blonde and Black run across the dining and living collections, so a Modern dining table in Walnut matches a Modern coffee table and sideboard in Walnut. If you are mixing collections, keep the finish the same and let the shapes differ.
Screens vary, and a finish reads differently under warm kitchen lighting than in a bright living room. If you are stuck between two, email us a photo of the room and we will tell you honestly which one we would choose.
